Chariots4Hope is a non-profit organization in Nebraska and Missouri, dedicated to providing reliable transportation for low-income individuals and families. Concurrently, Chariots4Hope is honing its brand identity, projecting an image of hope and joy that aligns with their mission to change lives positively.

SCROLL

Chariots4Hope is a faith-based non-profit serving low-income individuals and families in Nebraska and Missouri, servicing Omaha, Lincoln,  Grand Island, and St. Joseph, Missouri. Their mission is to demonstrate God’s love by providing reliable transportation.

Reliable transportation is critical to nearly every component of our daily lives. It provides the freedom we can so easily take for granted. For many Chariots4Hope’s recipients, their lives derailed through challenging circumstances, which has removed the independence found in reliable transportation. At Chariots4Hope, they award vehicles to individuals and families referred to them by an approved referring organization.

Capturing the raw joy of receiving reliable transportation.

Once an individual or family is approved to receive a vehicle, Chariots4Hope begins planning the awarding ceremony, a blessing, of the car. The awarding of the vehicle is held as a surprise for the recipient and includes the referring organization, friends, family, Chariots4Hope’s staff and volunteers, jumpstart sponsors, and local businesses.

Even though the recipient is aware they are approved for a vehicle and know a surprise blessing is coming, Chariots4Hope has continued to catch the recipients off guard. Their reactions are raw, each responding to receiving reliable transportation differently. There has been an extreme joy, tears, laughter, disbelief. Some can’t wait to get in the vehicle, while others have sat crying, stuck in the lie that they are not worthy of the gift. These blessings are a highly emotional event.

Filming the impact that reliable transportation gives to those in need.

In Chariots4Hope’s infant years, Klar, Inc. was approached by Michelle, one of their founders, to produce a set of videos for their first annual gala. The first set of videos produced were a set of 60-second recipient highlights for social media. The second set was short films highlighting a recipient and vehicle donor, the first of which was of one of their first recipients, Angie. The film captured the story of Angie and the Jumpstart Sponsor, Hog Wild Pit BBQ, who provided the repairs for the vehicle. We produced a second film of Rachel, a vehicle donor, and her story of providing reliable transportation to a single mother. To see the recipient highlight videos, visit our YouTube page.

Beyond the Car, Chariots4Hope second annual gala.

Melissa’s Story premiered to the attendees at the Gala in two parts. Melissa was a recipient of a Chariots4Hope vehicle before becoming a staff member with the non-profit. She was the recipient of the car donated by Rachel (videoabove), one of the stories highlighted at the previous year’s Gala. You can watch the complete film below.

The second video at the 2017 Gala was a sign language performance by the non-profit’s founder’s niece. The performance was presented live during the Gala, along with the video performance displaying on the large venue screens for everyone to see.

The third and final film for the 2017 Gala was released a couple of weeks after the Gala’s conclusion. The video was a reading of a poem written and read by recipient Destiny. She also read the poem during the Gala program.

Under the Hood, the 2018 Gala.

The third annual Chariots4Hope Gala, Under the Hood, brought us a filming challenge. The focus of the Gala was all the aspects after a  vehicle is donated to Chariots4Hope. As the non-profit focuses on the people, our approach was to capture the individuals involved in the process, everyone Under the Hood. We filmed over 50 people highlighting the sponsors, donors, volunteers, pastors, staff, referring organizations, and partners, all those involved for the recipient to receive reliable transportation. Hearing the stories of each person’s involvement in the organization brought us joy each day of filming.

The second video we produced was a time-lapse of a donated vehicle getting restored from extensive hail damage. The crew at Inter-Tech Collision restored the car to a like-new finish by replacing the roof, fixing the remaining hail damage, and re-painting the entire vehicle to its original paint color. Once completed, Chariots4Hop awarded the completed sedan during the 2018 Gala to an unexpecting recipient.

The beginning of developing a clean and concise brand.

During the production design of the Under the Hood Gala, we needed to create a consistent visual look for their event. Staying near to the previous visuals design, we began to clarify the branding of Chariots4Hope. Previously their elements were dark, not expressing the joy and freedom the organization provides to its recipients. Our designs kept with the previous branding feel while creating a more vibrant feel. The black color palette was still used in the Gala slide deck, however, we added slides heavy in bright white and yellows. A hint of future branding efforts we plan on continuing through the years.

A simple project to share their redefined mission.

As we continue to work with Chariots4Hope, we are mindful of the non-profits tight budget. With future projects added to our schedule, we are slowly providing a clear brand for the Chariots4Hope organization. We have brightened the yellow in the emblem, darkening the black, and utilizing the logo emblem as a watermark on images. In addition, we have begun to implement a consistent typeface, all in the effort to create an extraordinary brand.
